Retrosaria Serafina* é um atelier de tinturaria em Lisboa que se dedica ao tingimento artístico e artesanal de fios de lã muito pouco processada e sem nylon.

A maioria dos trabalhos de tinturaria é atualmente feita com pigmentos de origem ácida. Na origem desta decisão esteve o exagerado consumo de água envolvido na tinturaria natural e a situação de Portugal no que respeita a este bem tão precioso.

Ocasionalmente poderemos ter pequenas edições de fios tingidos naturalmente com pigmentos botânicos.


Em Lisboa desde 2022, a nossa loja funciona apenas online. Os nossos fios estão disponíveis diretamente no nosso site ou ocasionalmente em lojas selecionadas em diferentes países. É possível combinar para vir buscar a sua encomenda ao nosso atelier em Lisboa, para tal, envie-nos um email antes.

Durante os meses de verão trabalhamos a partir do nosso atelier no Algarve, no entanto, não recebemos visitas pois isso acabaria por interferir com o trabalho e com a vida familiar.

Os fios novos são anunciados principalmente no Instagram e poderá haver uma newsletter de vez em quando.

* Serafina é um tipo de tecido de lã próprio para forros. Espécie de baeta encorpada, geralmente com desenhos ou debuxos.

Retrosaria Serafina* is an Hand Dyed Yarns Studio in Lisbon, created by Paula Spranger.

All Serafina yarns are made of pure and very little processed wool, that has no nylon in it, I make a point in choosing yarn suppliers that have the environment and well being of the sheep in mind, as well as NO NYLON.

Currently we use mainly acidic low impact dyes but may, occasionally, have some limited edition naturally dyed yarns.

I have moved forward to acidic yarn dyes mainly because of the extreme use of water involved in natural dyeing, in a time when water is such a precious good, and having to consider the situation in Portugal.
In 2022 the studio relocated to Lisbon and the shop sells online. Our yarns are occasionally available from chosen retailers worldwide. It is possible to pick up your orders from our studio in Lisbon, just send us an email before.

During the summer months we operate from the Algarve where we have the original atelier. We are sorry to say but we do not receive visitors as it would interfere with our work rotine and personal life.

Shop updates are announced mainly on Instagram and there might be an ocasional newsletter.


*Serafina is the name of an ancient wool fabric used to line the insides of clothing.
